Policy Governance<\/h2>\n

The School Board sets Policy Governance policies<\/a><\/strong>, which focus on results or \u201cends\u201d \u2013 what Bellingham School\u00a0District graduates should know, understand and be able to do. By governing at this level, the Board avoids\u00a0micro-managing the work of the district. Instead, the School Board holds the superintendent accountable for\u00a0implementing the Board\u2019s vision by monitoring results through the use of data, reports and focused discussions.\u00a0The work of the School Board includes listening to the public and gathering their feedback about goals,\u00a0standards and progress through community outreach linkages.<\/p>\n

District Policy Manual<\/h2>\n

The following are administrative policies and procedures, which are set by the superintendent and administrative\u00a0staff. Many of these policies and procedures are required by state law.<\/p>\n

During the school year, district policies and procedures will continue to be updated. This renumbering many policies to more closely align with the Washington State School Directors Association (WSSDA) sample policies.<\/p>\n
